GM’s Wild Corvette C10 Concept: An Electric Hypercar Dream
Forget everything you know about the Corvette. GM just dropped a bombshell with the C10 concept—a futuristic, all-electric hypercar that redefines America’s favorite sports car. No roaring V8? No problem. This thing is pure sci-fi on wheels, and it might just hint at where Corvette is headed.
A Corvette Like You’ve Never Seen Before
Designed by GM’s Pasadena Advanced Design studio, the C10 looks like it just rolled off a Blade Runner set. Sleek, low-slung, and packing hypercar proportions, it’s a far cry from the traditional front-engine ‘Vette. And while the next-gen C9 (due around 2029) will stick to combustion power for now, this concept asks: What if Corvette went full electric?
The design takes cues from beasts like the Aston Martin Valkyrie and Rimac Nevera—think wild aerodynamics, massive wheels, and a removable single-piece canopy that turns it from a closed-top GT into an open-air track monster.
Electric Power, Track-Ready Performance
Gone is the thunderous V8 rumble; instead, the C10 packs a T-shaped battery setup designed for maximum performance. The low-slung pack improves handling and aerodynamics, key for any EV pushing serious speed.
Key Specs:
Size: 182.5” long, 86” wide (yes, it’s wide)
Wheels: 21-inch front, 22-inch rear (because stance matters)
Interior: A fighter jet-style cockpit with a yoke steering wheel, AR head-up display, and zero unnecessary frills.
Wait… But GM Said No Electric Corvette?
Here’s the twist: Corvette’s chief engineer recently called a full-electric model "science fiction." So is this just a fantasy, or a sign of things to come? GM insists it’s just an experiment—letting designers run wild with ideas.
Brian Smith, GM’s Pasadena Design Director, puts it best:
"Southern California lives and breathes car culture. We wanted this concept to capture that energy while pushing into the future. The removable canopy, the aerodynamics—it’s about blending street and track in a way Corvette never has before."
What’s Next for the ‘Vette?
The C10 is the second of three radical Corvette concepts GM plans to reveal this year. None are production-bound (yet), but they’re clearly testing the waters. Hybrid? Electric? Something even crazier?
One thing’s for sure: The Corvette is evolving. And while purists might grumble, the C10 proves that even an electric future could be seriously exciting.
Would you drive it?
